Lisa’s main ability is called “Hand of Buddha”, which is used mainly for moving around large objects she can also play her saxophone to stun or confuse enemies. Bart can become Bartman, using a grappling hook to access certain areas, as well as move upwards in air streams with his cape. Homer can expand into a rolling blob or inflate himself with helium and float for a while later, he learns a few other transformation abilities. The four controllable characters have their own unique abilities, which are used for combat, puzzle-solving, or exploration-related purposes. Most of the game’s versions allow two-player cooperative play. Players must switch back and forth using each family members’ unique powers to complete the level. Each stage features two members of the Simpson clan working together to achieve the goal. Some of the episodes parody a popular game or genre, having names like Medal of Homer or Neverquest. Every episode is set in a different environment some of the scenarios are based in Springfield, while others take the player into meta-virtual worlds. The game is divided into sixteen episodes, each containing cutscenes reminiscent of the original Simpsons TV series. The Simpsons Game is a 3D action game with platforming and light puzzle-solving elements, based on the long-running cartoon. Now the unlikely superheroes must not only protect the town of Springfield from an alien assault, but also find the true reason behind their newly acquired powers, and perhaps their very existence. Toying with these, however, attracts the attention of the aliens Kang and Kodos, who decide to invade the Earth. Miraculously, after having read the manual, the members of the Simpsons family discover that each of them possesses a unique superpower. Suddenly, a video game manual lands right in front of him. The log provided is from me randomly walking around Springfield with Bart and Lisa, since I can't replay the episodes and I can't switch the characters in the phone booth without deleting my save data (see "Gameplay").Bart Simpson goes to a video game store and buys a new ultra-violent Grand Theft Scratchy game, which is promptly confiscated by his mother Marge. I tried to trigger as many of the graphical glitches as possible though. The screen has a yellow tint whenever something is highlighted. Also with certain VFX on screen (mostly notable when a character is shooting, also explosions do this) it zooms in the top left corner. Charged attacks seem to trigger multiple of these glitches at once. I've also noticed some very insignificant texture glitches. After playing a few episodes the screen goes pitch black. To use it, jump into the air and press and hold R1. This is easily solved by restarting the game. Look down into the chasm at the lone pressure pad standing atop the pillar. Jump up and use Bart's cape glide to land on the pressure pad, building a bridge across the chasm out of the snake's tongue. Walk across the bridge to the other side of the chasm. In Vulkan mode the game is mostly unplayable. Even though the slight texture glitches don't happen, whenever something is highlighted, the screen goes pitch black (most likely the same conditions as the yellow tint in OpenGL mode) You can confirm the selections, but you can't change them. This affects the pause menu, main menu and even the bus stops in Springfield. Luckily the preselected characters can complete all of the missions. Arrows work for switching characters in missions. ![]() In-game the only issues affecting gameplay that I found were the graphics issues, enemies behave exactly the same as they would on a real PS3.ĮDIT: just remembered one more gameplay issue - in episode 15 (Five Characters in Search of an Author), when you get to the part when you fight Matt Groening, you are unable to move until you restart the game. Every other input works, just moving around doesn't. ![]()
